Fourth Saturday: Get Wild in the Hill Country

As part of our Fourth Saturday series at the Tap Room, we’re throwing an event every fourth Saturday of the month in Blanco.

RSVP to the event on Facebook for the latest updates!

Get Wild in the Hill Country – Wild Beer Release Party

The bluebonnets and Texas wildflowers are out in full bloom, so join us in Blanco as we celebrate the release of two brand-new wild beers from the Real Ale Mysterium Verum series. Magnum Trux & Rex Indomitus will be available to the public for the first time, starting in Blanco, on Saturday, March 25th.

BOTTLES & DRAUGHT: Magnum Trux, a barrel-aged sour quad with black currants

DRAUGHT-ONLY: Rex Indomitus, a dry-hopped barrel-aged brett ale.

Both beers have a little bit of the hill country in them thanks to the unique blend of wild yeast and bacteria in each that makes them special. Join us to celebrate their release and enjoy the beauty of this gorgeous place we call home. We’ll have live music outside the Tap Room starting at noon, plus food available from our new semi-permanent food truck: Blanco River Farms.

Do you like to win free, one-of-a-kind swag? Get wild with us by bringing in photos of you and your family with a patch of Texas wildflowers in bloom (bluebonnets, Indian paintbrushes, etc.).

  • One raffle ticket per person. Must have a unique photo that includes you in it! Printed photos or photos on your phone/camera will be accepted.
  • Gain one additional ticket if your photo includes dogs or kids or both.
  • Gain one more additional ticket if you show us that you shared the photo on Facebook or Twitter or Instagram with the #getwildwithrealale
  • We’ll be raffling off prizes every hour from 12-4, including some extremely limited edition new Mysterium Verum t-shirts that will not be available for sale.

(Also, as a bonus, that day we’ll be celebrating the craft beer community with a new collaboration beer only available in the Tap Room. A variation on our gold-medal-winning Real Heavy Scotch Ale, Wee Heavy Bevvy is a unique collaborative effort between us and the two other Scotch Ale category winners from the 2016 Great American Beer Festival, Revelry Brewing of Charleston, SC and FiftyWest Brewing from Cincinatti, OH.)

A limited number of bottles of Magnum Trux will be available locally in Blanco At Redbud Cafe and Hill Country Liquor. If you never got a bottle (or need another) of Scots Gone Wild, Coffissar, or Benedictum, there will also be a limited amount of those bottles available in Blanco, so come stock up your cellar!

Bring the family and hang out with us for a relaxing afternoon in the Hill Country. Blanco is calling, y’all. We’ll see you soon!

Magnum Trux (500mL bottles + draught): Belgian brewing tradition has long found its way into our Mysterium Verum program, from the selection of base beers to the techniques we’ve applied to them. Magnum Trux brings this depth of complexity to all new heights. After primary fermentation in stainless, Black Quad is racked into barrels with a fresh pitch of our MV House Culture. For the last 4 months of secondary fermentation, black currants are added to the barrels and allowed to ferment to dryness. The resulting ale shows notes of oak and currant and displays a deceptively smooth sourness.

Rex Indomitus (draught-only): Imperium has long held sway over Brett IPA’s in our barrel cellar. We’ve always enjoyed the interplay of wild yeast and hops, so much so that we decided to see how far we could take it. Enter Rex Indomitus. Rex is aged in oak with the same blend of Brettanomyces that ferments Imperium, but rather than Lost Gold, we’ve started with our Imperial Red Ale, Red King. After 12 months in oak, the beer is racked out of the barrels onto a fresh dose of dry hops. The finished beer has all of the fruity, funky hallmarks of brett fermentation, with an enticingly hopped finish.
