Real Ale Collaborates on “America’s Greatest Scotch Ale”
Real Ale has collaborated with 2016 Great American Beer Festival (GABF) winners Revelry Brewing Co. from Charleston, South Carolina and Fifty West Brewing Co. from Cincinnati, Ohio to create America’s greatest scotch ale. The three breweries that placed gold, silver, and bronze, respectively, in the Scotch Ale category at GABF are joining forces to create ‘Wee Heavy Bevvy’ Scotch Ale, a never done before collaboration. ‘Wee Heavy Bevvy’ will be tapped on Friday, March 24th at each of the three breweries. Real Ale will have it on draught at their Tap Room in Blanco, Texas
“The idea came up to get together with the other award winners and make a super-duper version of what was already world class examples of the style,” said Blake Horsburgh, Head Brewer and Co-Owner of Fifty West Brewing Company.
The idea of the ‘Wee Heavy Bevvy’, from Real Heavy by Real Ale, Oh My Darlyn! By Revelry, Going Plaid by Fifty West, came soon after the three breweries placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at GABF. This brew has all the characteristics you love about Scotch Ales with a personal influence from three unique brewers of 2016
“Having the chance to work collaboratively with other award-winning breweries to fine tune your craft, while having a little fun along the way, is exactly what this industry is all about,” said Ryan Coker, Head Brewer and Managing General Partner at Revelry Brewing Company.”
“What a great opportunity to meet new people, build lasting relationships, and learn something new along the way,” said Schmitty, Head Brewer and Production Manager at Real Ale Brewing Company.
This collaboration represents the incredible power of beer to bring people together and in this case, bring people from around the country together in this celebration of accomplished craft beer.
About Wee Heavy Bevvy:
This Super Duper Scotch Ale is a collaboration beer with Revelry Brewery and Fifty West. Real Ale Brewing Co’s, Revelry, and Fifty West won gold, silver and bronze, respectively, in the Scotch Ale category at the GABF in 2016, so they decided to come together to create the ultimate Scotch Ale by taking the best characteristics of each brew and adding them together. It was brewed with peat-smoked malt as well as dark crystallized malt for a smoky, deep fruit taste.
