Firemans #4 started with a friendship on the trails of the Texas Hill Country.
In the early ’90s, Real Ale co-founder Brad Farbstein met Greg Mundy, founder of Firemans Texas Cruzer bikes, at a mountain bike race near Pedernales Falls State Park. After long rides and cold beers, they had the idea to create something together—a light, refreshing beer you’d actually want after being outside all day.
It became the fourth beer Real Ale ever brewed, and Firemans #4 was born.
More than 25 years later, Firemans #4 remains our most iconic beer—a Texas classic rooted in bikes, friendship, and the Hill Country.
